Description

Yaya started baking rusks for the families she cared for. She learned how to bake rusks from Granny Jill, a matriarch in one of the families she worked for, and has been perfecting them ever since. She’s a mom of two and currently a full-time nanny to twin boys in Parkhurst, Johannesburg. Her muesli rusks quickly found fans beyond her neighbourhood. What began with one Instagram post in April 2025 grew fast. Within weeks, she had thousands of followers, features in national media and batches selling out in minutes. Her online community loves her just as much as they love her rusks!

Fast forward to July 2025 when Anneke stumbled across Yaya’s story and also the fact that she could not keep up with the demand. The idea for this partnership was born. To help Yaya’s budding business expand (and give Yaya’s arms a break!), she’s partnered with us at Mamamac’s. We care about the same things she does: real ingredients, delicious flavour and supporting our communities. By working together, we’re able to share Yaya’s rusks with more people - without losing what made them special in the first place.

Yaya’s rusks are delicious. I love the fact that they are so elegantly sized … it doesn’t look like you are dunking a whole doorstop into your coffee! And furthermore they are not too sweet, so that’s a good sign for us who are taking it easy on the sugar. Thank you!

BEST RUSKS EVER - YAYA’s

I buy YAYA’s rusks every month. I do four bags. I did buy directly from Yaya when I first ordered. I live in Cape Town and get from Mammacs, taste is identical and service unbelievable. I order Sunday receive on Tuesday. Definitely my go to every morning with my coffee. Rusks are not artificial, not too sweet, healthy and light. My best Go To Every Morning. LOVE THEM
